New Series: The Stages of Home-Buying

We're in the throes of trying to find a home, and it's certainly been an emotional roller coaster.  Billy commented that he was surprised I wasn't blogging in more detail about it.  My initial response was that I didn't really have anything to blog because nothing really has happened.  We're in the same position we were in six months or six years ago -- no house.

But then I realized that while we have no change of address forms to show for our effort, we have a lot of perspective and insight now that we didn't possess at the beginning of this journey.  And that is worth sharing -- maybe it will help make a future home-buyer more aware of what to expect.  At the very least, it will chronicle this tumultuous period of our lives.

So, follow along to see exactly how the house-hunting process has worked for us thus far, and keep your fingers crossed that the people of a selected but not-publicly-shared neighborhood in Pittsburgh decide to put a yummy house on the market for a price that fits our similarly selected but not-publicly-shared price range.  That would be divine.

  1. I'll definitely be following this series! Jon and I have put buying a house on the 3-5 year plan (vom vom vom) and I know ZILCH. I kind of don't want to start digging in because then I'll get obsessed and we'll have to find and buy, like, yesterday - so reading about your adventures will be the perfect compromise. ;)

  3. It's great that you're posting about your experiences. I've moved a lot, but I know lots of people who didn't know anything about buying houses or moving (these are military folks).

  4. I'm so glad you're blogging about home-buying! We're in the process of buying a new home (we close in 3 weeks!!) and it's been quite the journey. My husband already owns a home (he bought it before we started dating) but this is my first time home-buying, and it's both exciting and super intimidating.
