Notre Dame Family Print by Franny and Franky Designs

I know Christmas is comfortably in the rear-view mirror at this point, but I just realized I never blogged about what I gave my dad for Christmas this year, and it's simply too good not to share.

Quick backstory -- I'm the middle of five kids, and all of us graduated from Notre Dame.  My dad also graduated from Notre Dame, so it's safe to say that this school has a sacred place in my family.  Especially so for him.

I decided he needed something to commemorate the fact that we all carried on the tradition he started.  I reached out to a fellow WeddingBee blogger, Christina, the creative genius behind Franny and Franky Designs (Etsy shop! Facebook page!).

I gave her some really vague and probably not very helpful instructions about what I had in mind, saying that I hoped to include all five kids' names and graduation years in the silhouette of Notre Dame's golden dome.

I quickly got a number of options to choose from and, with a bit more conversation and refinement, I got exactly what I had in mind!  She designed it as a PDF in a standard size, so I was able to print it off at Staples for a buck or so and then buy a standard frame and mat at Michael's to polish it off.

I don't have a picture of the finished product in the frame (forget to get one at Christmas and haven't been back home since!), but here's a look at the finished design from Franny and Franky:

Suffice it to say that I am super jazzed about how it turned out, and my dad loved it on Christmas morning.  If you're looking for some great design work for a custom piece, I'd definitely recommend checking out Franny and Franky!

  1. What a cool idea, love how it turned out!

  2. Thanks for the write up! It was so fun to work on your project, and I'm so glad your dad loved it!
